New Delhi, Feb 19: Speaker Somnath Chatterjee became violent after unruly MPs disrupted the Lok Sabha proceedings on Thursday, Feb 19. The furious speaker said MPs are insulting the public and they did not deserve a single paisa in allowances.
Raising his voice he said he would adjourn the house sine die."You are insulting the people of the country and wasting public money. You do not deserve even a single paisa. You are behaving in a condemnable manner," Chatterjee said pandemonium prevailed in the Lok Sabha.
"You don't deserve any allowances, I think this house should be adjourned sine die. This is the only way to save public money," angry Chatterjee added.
As the day's session began at 11 am, MPs from many parties gathered near the speaker's podium protesting over various issues and forcing the speaker to adjourn the house at 11.15 am.
Chatterjee's word fell on deaf ears of MPs who continued with their protests even in the resumed noon session.
Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal, who was then chairing the session, adjourned the house for another two hours.
If MPs of BJP and BSP were protesting against the SC/ST (reservation in post and services) Bill 2008, MPs from MDMK and PMK demanded a stop to the war in Sri Lanka. Telugu Desam Party MPs did not leave behind to create an uproar over the Satyam Computer Services.
