Supreme Court notice to TN lawyers over frequent strikes
New Delhi, Feb 19 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notices to the lawyers of the Madras High Court for frequent strikes on various issues, which had affected the work badly.
Due to strikes, work could be conducted in the High Court for only nine days since January this year.
SC had given notice to various advocates' associations of Tamil Nadu, Madras High Court Advocate Association, Madras Bar Association and Bar Council of Tamil Nadu, for paralysing court.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, Justices J. M. Panchal and Asok Kumar Ganguly issued the notices.
The notice came after an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) professor R. Murlidharan approached the apex court questioning the advocates' commitment to their profession.
The Supreme Court would hear the matter on February 27. (ANI)
