Virtual dating to re-define how singles know each other
Washington, Feb 15 (ANI): Didn't have a date this Valentine's Day? Well, don't worry for you can now woo those lovely ladies by going on a virtual date with them-all you need to do is to log on to OmniDate.
OmniDate requires a person to create an online profile and set up an avatar, or virtual representation of themselves, from a library of avatars.
And then they can go on a virtual date, talk, share each other's favourite music and even go on for a virtual kiss.
"With email the anticipation builds and builds and by the time you actually meet the person there is a mountain of expectation. All people want is to learn more about the person behind the online profile in a safe and comfortable manner," Discovery News quoted Ravit Abelman, co-founder of virtual dating site OmniDate, as saying.
Right now, the avatars on Omnidate are only approximations of one's real appearance, but it might just change very soon.
The website is developing software that will automatically convert an uploaded photo of a person into an online avatar for a more realistic image of both the user and his or her date.
One can ask a potential single for a virtual date whenever he or she logs in.
After the person agrees, the two avatars are transported to a random setting, such as a bar (as in my date), a cafe or on a beach.
Then the couples can play games to break the ice, choose what music to listen to, and write messages that pop up as text boxes.
If a person likes what he or she is hearing, they can press a button and briefly hold the other avatar's hand, touch their face, or blow a kiss.
And in just five minutes a "kiss" function appears, pressing which one avatar can hold the other to plant a gentle smooch on mutual consent. (ANI)
