Rooney 'nutmegged' by youngster during Nike advert shoot

By Super Admin

London, Feb.15 (ANI): Manchester United and England football star Wayne Rooney was left embarrassed twice by a youngster during the filming of the former's latest Nike advert.

Footage leaked from the set proved you don't have to be a Premier League star to shine in five a-side football, as an unknown youngster stole the show from the England hero.

According to The Sun, during the shoot, Rooney was cheekily nutmegged by one of the local players selected to take part in the commercial.

In football parlance, a nutmeg (or tunnel or panna) is a technique used in football (soccer) or hockey, in which a player plays the ball through an opponent's legs. This can be whilst passing to another player, shooting or occasionally to carry on and retrieve it them self. Performing a nutmeg is commonly seen as showing the opponent is lacking in footballing skill, and therefore amongst amateur players (particularly children), nutmegs are frequently tried so as to embarrass the opposition player and prove your own skill.

Word has it the youngster caught Rooney unawares with a 'meg' in the warm-up before the ad started.

The former Everton hitman then challenged him to try to repeat the trick when the cameras were rolling and was left embarrassed when the youth did just that.

"The lad did nutmeg Wayne during the shoot and, to be fair to Wayne, he took it in great spirit. There was a lot of banter and some great skill going on during filming. It goes to show that five-a-side football is a great place to express your skills," a source said. (ANI)
