London, Feb 15 (ANI): Peruvian film 'The Milk of Sorrow' has bagged the prestigious Golden Bear award for best picture at this year's Berlin Film Festival.irected by Claudia Llosa, the film chronicles the story of a young woman who was born to a woman who was raped in the 1980s.
As the first Peruvian entry in the festival's main competition, the film beat hotly-tipped 'The Messenger', starring Woody Harrelson, and 'My One and Only', with Renee Zellweger.
Uruguay's Gigante and Germany's Everyone Else shared the gong for the runner-up.
"This is beautiful... this is such an honour. This is for Peru. This is for our country," the BBC quoted Llosa as saying upon receiving the award. The Messenger' won the Silver Bear for best script for writers Oren Moverman and Alessandro Camon, and also bagged the award for best script
Sotigui Kouyate from Mali won the best actor Silver Bear for his role in 'London River', while the best director Silver Bear went to Iranian Asghar Farhadi for 'About Elly'.
The Berlin Film Festival is in its 59th year, and is popular for its reputation of picking out future hit films. (ANI)
