US cracks H1B visa racket; 11 Indians arrested
New York, Feb 14: The US Federal agents busted a H1B visa racket and arrested 11 Indians from seven states on Friday, Feb 13. The agency was hunting for companies that mainly sponsored H1B visas. the companies and the seven workers are accused of submitting false statements and documents in favour of their visa petitions, and taking up jobs without being certified by the Department of Labor.
Meanwhile, the Senate has decided to retain the amendment which bars companies receiving bailout funds from hiring H1B workers for two years.
This is in case they have laid off US workers in the past six months.
