Sydney, Feb 14 (ANI): Former Australian coach Geoff Marsh has said that he was not interested in the job of England cricket coach, because he would not want to coach another team against his own country

Four months before the Ashes, England face difficulties after favoured coaching candidate John Buchanan indicated that he was not prepared to coach against Australia, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Marsh, whose sons Shaun and Mitchell are contracted by Cricket Australia and WACA respectively, said: "I would never coach against Australia for the Poms, and I don't want to coach against my own kids."

"It's like John Buchanan said, he doesn't want to coach against Australia and two, he doesn't want to go back to living out of a suitcase. That is exactly how I feel. I think if you can get a job in the IPL, that is a good gig," Marsh added.

In an email to Cricinfo, Buchanan outlined the reasons for his reluctance to coach at international level again after ECB managing director Hugh Morris registered his interest in the man who mentored Australia to world supremacy between 1999 and 2007.

"I finished the coaching role with CA because I believe in a shelf-life for coaches, and in my opinion, I had reached mine by the completion of the World Cup in 2007," said Buchanan.

"I am not sure I could travel that road again and indeed with another country," he added.

Both Tom Moody and Geoff Lawson, who was sacked as Pakistan's coach late last year, said they had not been approached. (ANI)
