Patnitop (J-K)/Nainital/New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): The higher reaches of North India have received heavy snowfall in recent days, and this is attracting hordes of tourists from the plains.

Snowfall at several places, including in Nainital, is attracting tourists in large numbers.

It has brought a smile on the faces of tourists who are enjoying the weather after the region was hit by a dry spell.

"It is a very nice feeling, I am enjoying," said Raveena, a tourist.

Patnitop, a hill resort in Jammu and Kashmir, also experienced heavy snowfall on Wednesday. Hundreds of tourists thronged the resort, which is located at about 7,000 feet above sea level in the Pirpanjal Ranges of the Himalayas.

People visiting Vaishno Devi also flocked to Patnitop to enjoy the snowfall.

Many revelers were left awestruck by the picturesque scene. Some said they were seeing snow for the first time in their lives.

"The weather is really nice, I am witnessing snowfall for the first time, looks as if rivers of milk are flowing all around," said Kalpana, a tourist.

The snow and rain has led to a dip in temperatures in neighbouring states, including New Delhi.

A thick fog enveloped the capital city on Wednesday and Thursday.

Traffic was moving at a slow pace on Thursday and many said they arrived late at work.

Several flights were either delayed or diverted to other cities owing to poor visibility.

"My flight has got delayed because of fog," said Balbir Singh, a passenger.

According to reports, around 20 domestic and international flights were affected. (ANI)
