Israel general elections peaceful
Jerusalem, Feb 10: Israeli elections are going on peacefully in all 9,263 polling stations that opened at 7 am local time (10.30 am IST) , said election officials and Israeli Police.
Voters in Jerusalem and many other parts of the Israel voted amidst pouring rain and strong winds. This might reduce the voter turnout.
Voter turnout in the last election in 2006 was 63.2 per cent, the lowest in Israel's history.
The Israeli military announced a blanket closure of the West Bank from midnight on Monday until midnight Tuesday, barring Palestinians from entering Israel except for urgent medical treatment.
