Hyderabad, Feb 9: Disgraced founder of Satyam Ramalinga Raju who was living an ordinary life as a inmate since his arrest on Jan 9 has now been granted special facilities. Nampally Criminal Court in Hyderabad has granted him special status.
This will allow Raju to access to special facilities which is beyond basic necessities. Raju all these days was eating just dal and rice and was sharing toilets with other prisoners.
So after spending almost a month in Hyderabad's Chanchalguda Jail, Ramalinga Raju finally has something to feel relieved about. Now Raju need not share his space with other petty thieves. Raju will be given an individual cell. Food items like fruits, biscuits and other stuffs can be brought to him by his family.
Raju will also be allowed to read newspapers and books of his choice. His individual cell will be furnished with a cot, mattress, a table, a chair and also have a separate bathroom. It was the first time in 20 years that the special status has been granted to an inmate.
However, prosecution argued aggressively against conferring special status to Raju.
