SC permits SEBI to interrogate Ramalinga Raju
New Delhi, Feb 3: The apex body, Supreme Court has given permission to Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to interrogate the Ex-Chairman of Satyam Computers, Ramalinga Raju and his brother, Ramaraju on Tuesday, Feb 3. The interrogation will be carried out by SEBI General Manager A Sunil Kumar on Feb 4, 5 and 6.
A petition was filed by Solicitor General GE Vahanvati on behalf of SEBI before a bench headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan on Monday, Feb 2.
Last week, the Andhra Pradesh High Court had posted SEBI's identical plea for hearing on Feb 9 without giving an ex-parte order allowing the regulator to quiz the Raju brothers.
SEBI had earlier moved the Supreme Court challenging the lower court which had earlier denied permission to interrogate Ramalinga Raju and his brother Ramaraju who are in custody.
