Islamabad, Feb 2 (ANI): Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that he had convinced the world that military operations alone were not the solution to terrorism, adding that Pakistan's "three Ds strategy" is essential for winning hearts and minds.
"I also tried to make them realise that US drone attacks in our Tribal Areas are proving counterproductive, and I asked them to share actionable information with us, as it will improve the image and credibility of the government," he said.
Addressing a press conference after his three-day visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Gilani said: "There was unanimity that army operations were not the only solution to terrorism. They also supported our three Ds strategy of dialogue, development and deterrence."
He added that he had convinced several world leaders that employment, development and alleviation of poverty were key to success in the war on terror.
"I made them realise that the war could not be won without the cooperation of the people. I also told them that Pakistan has paid more than anybody else including NATO in terms of life and property losses," The Daily Times quoted Gilani, as saying.
Gilani said he would not rule out 'foreign hand' in the unrest in Swat. "We have the will and ability to fight out terrorists but we will use the strategy of minimum collateral damage. We have changed out strategy in Swat," he said.
He also said that Pakistan had reviewed the dossier of information on the Mumbai terrorist attacks that India had provided.
"I will take India and the world into confidence on the findings of the investigations," Gilani added. (ANI)
