Melbourne, Jan 31: Expectations are high on ace Mahesh Bhupathi after India's Yuki Bhambhri thrilling win at Australian Open Juniors title. Bhupathi is all set for men's doubles final at the Melbourne Park on Saturday, Jan 31.
He is the flag bearer of Indian tennis and one of most dominant doubles player for international tennis. Over a decade, Bhupathi could not make the grand slam. The pair made light work of their first round opponents Youzhny and Zverev in straight sets before battling past the tough Russian pair of Kunitsyn & Tursunov in the second. Nicolas Lapentti and Tommy Roberdo were the next to wither in front of the Bhupathi-Knowels storm.
But the real challenge came in the round of 8 against Spaniards Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez with the determined Indo-Bahamian pair emerging victorious in 3 sets. Will Bhupathi make historical milestone today?
