Lahore, Jan 31 (ANI):The Pakistani port city of Karachi is under threat from terrorists, and may witness terror strikes similar to Mumbai, Governor of the Sindh province Ishratul Ebad said.

According to The Daily Times, Ebad said that the financial capital of Pakistan, Karachi is facing a tricky situation with the Talibani terrorists mixing with the population and raising funds illegally to carry out their devastating plans.

"There is the infiltration of a few people. For terrorism you don't need the masses, rather you need a few people to create havoc in your area," Ebad said.

He warned people across Pakistan to be prepared for any eventuality as the Taliban may attack important cities and places as it faces a revamped military operation in the northern tribal areas.

Ebad also said that the most important part was that people and authorities in Pakistan have denied the presence of Taliban on its soil, which was proving dangerous.

He added that the Taliban was able to fortify its rule and run a parallel government in areas like Swat and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), because the authorities have denied the fact that they (Taliban) exist on its soil.

"If we do not accept the reality that the Taliban exist here, we get the kind of situation we have (elsewhere) in Pakistan. We have lost Peshawar and Swat. That happened because of our own denial," Ebar said. (ANI)
