Obama chides Washington over closing school because its snowing

Washington, Jan. 29 (ANI): President Barack Obama seems pretty annoyed over the fact that his two daughters are not going to school in Washington because it is snowing.

At a Roosevelt Room meeting on Wednesday with business leaders to press his economic stimulus plan, Obama suggested that "some flinty Chicago toughness" might be in order to deal with the Capital's first ice storm of the winter.

"My children's school was canceled today, because of what? Some ice," Obama said, as the room erupted in laughter.

"As my children pointed out, in Chicago, school is never canceled," he continued in amazement. "In fact, my 7-year-old pointed out that you'd go outside for recess in weather like this. You wouldn't even stay indoors."

Asked if he were calling Washingtonians weather wusses, Obama gleefully responded: "I'm saying that when it comes to the weather, folks in Washington don't seem to be able to handle things."

Actually, he's dead on. The Nation's Capital is infamous for falling apart when the weather turns foul.

The tiniest precipitation is enough to snarl traffic. When it's snow and ice, Washington essentially shuts down.

Emigrants from say, Minneapolis or Rochester, laugh out loud at the locals' sky-is-falling routine.(ANI)
