Aircraft makes emergency landing in Kolkata
Kolkata, Jan 17: A 38-passenger Guwahati-bound plane landed under emergency situation in Kolkata airport after one of its engines caught fire on Saturday, Jan 17 morning.
All passengers of the plane are safe. S2-361 flight pilot contacted the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and sought to land minutes after take off. The pilot noticed the portside engine emmitting smoke and fire, sources at airport said.
Fire brigade was on the stand by as the aircraft landed safely two minutes after take off.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, officials said.
"The passengers would be sent to Guwahati around 10 am by another plane," airport sources said.
