Burris sworn-in to Obama's senate seat finally
Washington, Jan 16: Ronald W Bruris has been sworn in as a Senator from the Midwestern State, the seat vacated by the US President-elect-Barack Obama, after much controversies.
Illinois Governor Rod J Blagojevich nominated Burris to the seat in Dec 2008.

Controversy sparked off after Democrats initially refused to accept Burris nomination as Blagojevich faces the charge of selling the Senate seat.

Blagojevich was arrested by Federal Bureau of Investigation for the selling the Senate Seat Charges and faces impeachment. However, Blagojevich denied the allegations. When Burris gave his nomination papers in Washington, Democratic leaders, including the Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, refused to accept it saying that it was incomplete.

However, Burris fresh nomination were in accordance with the Senate, hence Reid and Majority Whip Richard Durbin planned to seat Burris. Soon after the swearing in Reid sought to put an end to the controversy by saying on the floor of the Senate: "We made it clear from the beginning that our concern was never with Burris."

Burris, aged 71, was sworn in as the Senator on Thursday, Jan 15.
