CID sleuths search Pricewaterhouse
Hyderabad, Jan 15: Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) officials conducted searches in the office of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), on Tuesday, Jan 14 at its Hyderabad office, 36 Jubliee Hills.
PwC are the auditors of Satyam Computer Services in India. The CID officials seized documents and CDs containing information on transactions with Satyam. The searches were conducted by a team of two Deputy Superintendents of Police and three inspectors, led by N Balaji Rao of the Economic Offences Wing. Search began in afternoon which continued till evening.
It can be recalled here that the role of PriceWaterhouse, has come under the scanner following a confession by Satyam"s former Chief Financial Officer, Srinivas Vadlamani. Vadlamani had said that accounts were fudged for many years and auditors never showed any differences in the accounts.
A
PwC
staff
was
asked
to
help
CID
sleuths
to
locate
the
files
and
documents
of
Satyam.
However,
PwC
dismissed
the
report
that
they
have
been
raided.
"There
is
no
raid
at
the
Price
Waterhouse
Hyderabad
office.
We
are
in
discussion
with
different
agencies
for
providing
information
requested
by
them.
We
are
fully
cooperating
with
the
agencies
and
providing
whatever
information/documents/materials
that
have
been
asked
for."
CID Inspector General V S K Kaumudi met the officials of the Registrar of Companies and took several information regarding the case.
