New Delhi, Jan 14: In the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit that took place last month Sanjay Dutt had expressed his willingness to join politics. His decision to contest Lok Sabha polls on Samajwadi Party (SP) ticket has created a rift between the Dutt siblings. Congress MP Priya Dutt said that the Dutt family was always a Congress family and was upset that Sanjay did not consult her on the move.
"Definitely there is disappointment. We have always been a Congress family. I wish he had fought for the Congress party," Dutt, a sitting MP from northwest Mumbai seat, said.
However, Priya Dutt said that even though she was upset over the her brother's decision of joining SP, there was absolutely no family feud over it.
"There is no family feud. Everybody is free to take a decision for himself or herself. This is Sanjay's decision and he has to take responsibility for this," she said.
"To say that the Congress had been unjust to Sanjay and forced him to opt for the Samajwadi Party was incorrect," she added.
However, Sanjay refused to comment on the matter.
When asked he said, "I cannot say anything right now. I will speak about it in a day or two."
