Truck strike called off
New Delhi, Jan 12: The eight day long truckers' strike has been called off on Monday, Jan 12. Union Surface Transport and Shipping Minister T R Baalu had convened a meeting on Monday, Jan 12 with the Ministers of Transport of States to solve the situation arising out of the truckers strike.
Trucks all over India had come to standstill, after truckers launched an indefinite strike over cutting cost of diesel prices from Jan 5. Truckers had demanded diesel prices should be cut by Rs 10 per litre and withdraw the service tax on them. More details are awaited about the strike call off.
