Holbrooke to be Obama's special envoy for South Asia
Washington, Jan.10 (ANI): Former United Nations Ambassador Richard Holbrooke will be incoming President Barack Obama's special envoy on South Asia.
According to people familiar with the appointment, Holbrooke, 67, is a veteran diplomat who has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize seven times.
He was also the chief architect of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement that ended the war in Bosnia, Holbrooke also has been ambassador to Germany.
Holbrooke was an early and vocal supporter of Clinton's run for president, throwing his support to Obama only after the Illinois senator secured the nomination.
Currently he is vice chairman of Perseus LLC, a Washington- based private equity firm, and chairman of the non-profit Asia Society and the American Academy in BerlinExperienced People' (ANI)
