Goa police are tight-lipped over the issue. Sources say that the victim was forced to go from one police station to another, as she pleaded that her complaint be registered. A police source on condition of anonymity said that the woman was sent to the Goa Medical College and Hospital for medical examination to varify the claim that she was raped.
The woman in her complaint mentioned that she was caught by a gang of Nigerians who added drugs to her drinks and robbed her belongings and money on New Year eve.
Sources say that she first submitted the complaint to the Pernem police station where she was asked to approach the Mapusa police station. Citing jurisdiction issue the Mapusa Police officer asked the complainent to register her complaint at the Anjuna police station. When the sources contacted the Anjuna police officials they refused to comment.
