Obamas to live in Washington hotel after Bush said official residence "unavailable"
London, Jan 1 (ANI): US President-elect Barack Obama, who is to move to Washington this weekend, will be staying in a hotel after George W. said an official residence was "not available".
The Obamas are leaving Chicago and moving to the American capital shortly after their Hawaii vacation ends on Thursday because daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, seven, are due to start school, reports the Telegraph.
Earlier, Obama had requested to stay at Blair House, which is opposite the White House, but was told by the Bush administration it was booked up for farewell "receptions and gatherings" and was "not available" until January 15 - five days before the inaugural ceremony.
According to reports, the Obama family will be staying at one of Washington's most prestigious addresses, the Hay Adams hotel.
The presidential suite in the penthouse normally sells for 2,500 dollars to 5,000 dollars a night. (ANI)
