Kuala Lumpur, Dec 30 (ANI): Malaysia's Tourism Minister fears that the proposed New Year's Eve sex party will tarnish the country's image.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman said that such parties would not attract tourists and can adversely effect the country's tourism industry

"Malaysia's tourism lure lies in the strength of its multiracial society," The New Straits Times Online quoted her as saying.

"It is also seen as a family and shopping destination.

"A sex party is against our culture and religion and if it went on, it would damage the country's reputation worldwide," she added.

Othman expressed her shock over the news reports that several people in Terengganu had received invitations to take part in a New Year's Eve beach party where they may indulge in sexual activities.

Females who wanted to attend, among others, are required to wear G-string panties and must be prepared to take them off after midnight.

She urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action to stop the party.

"There are other events organised to usher the New Year which are hip, fun and suitable to our culture," she said.

Last year, the cops arrested 37 men at a gay sex party and a year later four other such parties were stopped by the authorities. (ANI)
