Kathmandu, Dec 29 (ANI): Election for the post of chairpersons of the 14 committees including the Constitutional Committee, the most important panel under the Constituent Assembly (CA), is scheduled to take place on January 9.
A meeting of the Constituent Assembly Executive Advisory Committee today decided to push the earlier deadline of December 31 for this by 9 more days.
With the decision, the Calendar of Events prepared by the Advisory Committee for drafting of the new Constitution has also been affected.
The Advisory Committee which has members from all 25 political parties represented in the Constituent Assembly also decided to amend the CA rules and procedures.
The constitution-drafting committees will now comprise of 63 members instead of the earlier 61 as decision has been made to add two more members in it including one from the Muslim community and another from among the independent Constituent Assembly members.
The two groups had been boycotting the Constituent Assembly proceedings from some time demanding that they have representation in the constitution drafting committees, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
