Brit baby is world's youngest patient to survive a brain tumour surgery
London, Dec 29 (ANI): A British baby has set a new world record by becoming the youngest patient to survive a brain tumour surgery at just one week old.Madison Quartarone, who was found to have a large benign growth, has been recovering well after going under three "embilisation" operations at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.
In "embilisation" operations, arteries are injected with glue to cut off blood supply to a tumour
Scans after the surgery revealed that her tumour had shrunk.
Thus, Madison, now eight weeks, could go home in Bedford for Christmas with mum Charlene Smith.
"I am not aware of anyone as young as Madison having this treatment. It could be ground-breaking," the Sun quoted Neurosurgeon Dominic Thompson as saying.
Grandfather Ian Chandler said: "She's amazed everyone."
Charlene said: "She's feeding well." (ANI)
