Lahore, Dec. 28 (ANI): Nawaz Sharif and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, leaders of Nawaz and Quaid sections of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) respectively, arrived at Allama Iqbal International Airport of Lahore from Dubai in the same flight.
The onlookers said that both the families were travelling in first class with Etihad Airways. But the eight members did not talk to each other due to their political differences, the Daily Times reported.
After reaching airport, Elahi denied reports of meeting Nawaz in Dubai, and added that two factions of the PML could merge only if the PML-N quit power and talked to his party on equal terms.
Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had reportedly held a one-on-one meeting in Dubai on Pakistan's political situation.
But the report fell through within an hour when PML-N's legislator Captain Safdar and Marvi Memon of the PML-Q contradicted it and said that the two leaders had attended a wedding in Dubai, but did not meet.
However, an associate of Sharif, who did not want to be identified, insisted that the meeting had taken place, adding that a UAE minister who has made heavy investments in Pakistan in different projects hosted it.
According to him the two leaders discussed possible cooperation between their parties before the Senate election in March.
"Both the parties have a common cause that the Pakistan People's Party should not take the post of the Senate chairman," the PML-N leader had said. (ANI)
