Citizens, Govt together can fight terror: HM
New Delhi, Dec 26: In the wake of Mumbai terror attacks, Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram said on Friday, Dec 26 that citizens and the Government can work together and root out the terrorism in India.
"I think by working together, abiding by the law, heightening vigilance, sharing information, it is possible to raise our preparedness to fight terror," he said.
"The first way citizens can help is to abide by laws. We must become a law-abiding society. If the law is bad, we change the law but as long as they are there, we must abide by the laws," Chidambaram said while accepting citizens' charter from CNN-IBN news channel.
"We are trying to work out a system by which such information can be sent with out too much of interface and interruption," the Minister said.
Chidambaram also said that citizens can help in maintaining vigil in society also. "Citizens can help in maintaining heightened state of of vigilance."
