Melbourne, Dec 22 (ANI): The owners of a Sydney pub have enraged officials with a rather 'saucy' logo for the bar-showing the image of red wine swooshing in two breast-shaped glasses.
Called 'Small Bar', the alcohol point's logo did not go down too well with City of Sydney councillor and Labor matriarch Meredith Burgmann.
She even tried to pull funding for the fledgling business after seeing the 'boob' bar-logo, calling it sexist, sleazy, gratuitous and offensive.
"We're two 25-year-old guys, we're not saints," the Daily Telegraph quoted co-owner Chris Lane, as saying.
Lane, who started Small Bar with his long-time high-school mate Luke Heard, also said that it was just an idea as part of a wider marketing campaign that would not go to print.
"We definitely didn't intend to offend women. We're the complete opposite of that. The whole point of Small Bar is that we're women-friendly - I have my mum and sister here helping me put flowers up. They were just ideas we were generating to test the waters," he said.
The pair, who quit their jobs to invest 200,000 dollars in the Sussex Lane bar, has already lost 20,000 dollars funding from the council's laneways business development program.
"They put forward something that was redolent of 1950s' sleazy, gratuitous, sex advertising. If it was for lingerie you wouldn't mind so much but it was for a wine bar. Of course it's sexist, there weren't pictures of naked men," said Burgmann.
In fact, in a survey of over 30 women, it was found that only one was offended by the image, while most called it clever, fun, witty, pretty, smart and basically a bit of a laugh. (ANI)
