Washington, December 20 (ANI): The mother of Levi Johnston, the teen father of Sarah Palin's daughter's unborn child, had been put behind bars on drug charges.
Sherry Johnston had been taken into custody by Alaska State Troopers at her Wasilla home as a consequence of an "undercover narcotics investigation," as per the police.
The Anchorage Daily News reported the 42-year-old had been charged with six felony counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance though she was later released on 5,000-dollar bond.
Her 18-year-old son Levi had gained the spotlight after John McCain had announced Alaska Governor Palin to be his running mate at the end of August for the US presidential campaign, reports Fox News.
On September 1, 2008, Palin announced that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, was five months pregnant, and that she intends to keep the baby and marry Levi, the father of the child.
The incident had gathered much attention in the Republican National Convention the next week. (ANI)
