Moscow, Dec 18: After the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed that Azam Amir Kasav is a Pakistani, which India had believed in, a new revelation over 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks is out. This time its by Russian government. On Thursday, Dec 18 Russia issued a statement saying that it believes underworld kingpin Dawood Ibrahim was directly involved in the Mumbai terror strikes and his network was used by the terrorists to carry out the multiple attacks.
Moscow which shares intelligence with India, further said that Dawood's drug network, which run through Afghanistan was used to finance the terror attacks. Dawood Ibrahim is believed to be operating his huge network from Karachi of Pakistan, even though Pak is denying his presence. Russian officials are of the view that the information gathered point to the fact that the Don has provided logistical support to carry out the terror strikes. Viktor Ivanov, a Russian official is of the view that the 26/11 Mumbai attacks were a 'burning example' of how illegal drug trafficking network was used for terrorism.
Indo-Russian joint delegation in a statement expressed concern over drug network financing terror modules. Russia has offered to work with India to 'inject new dynamism' in the convention that has been held up over the definition of terrorism. The government also offered to explain the Indian officials the steps taken by Russia after the Beslan school terrorist attack.
