Lahore, Dec 16 (ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has urged the US to play its role to defuse the tension between Pakistan and India, adding that the solution of the Kashmir issue was also vital for peace between both countries.

He said that the tense situation would also affect international peace. He also asked India to end the blame game against Pakistan.

Nawaz asked the United States to stop drone attacks in the Tribal Areas, and said that the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity would not be compromised at any cost.

Pakistan was a victim of terrorism and could not even imagine carrying out such activity in any other country, he told US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W Patterson.

Issues related to the war on terrorism, the tensions between Pakistan and India after the Mumbai attacks, the sanctions imposed on Jaamatud Dawa and the drone attacks by the US in the Tribal Areas were discussed, the Daily Times quoted sources, as saying.

The PML-N chief told the US Ambassador that Pakistan wanted peace in the region and better relations with India but could not tolerate violations of its airspace by India.

Patterson said the US was concerned about the tense situation between Pakistan and India and would play its role to defuse the tension. The US would continue to assist Pakistan in the war on terrorism, she said. (ANI)
