Dog starts lactating to feed abandoned kitten

New Delhi, Dec 15 (ANI): In a peculiar incident, a dog started lactating in order to feed an abandoned kitten after the pooch's owner picked up the kitten from the streets.

A Chinese man called Wang picked up an abandoned kitten from a street in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province and took it home.

Much to Wang's surprise, his pet pooch grew fond of the newborn kitten and began feeding it and the two even slept together.

"The cat had just been born and could not yet open its eyes," Wang said.

The kitten often sucked the dog's dry nipples, and it was just recently that Wang discovered her dog was actually lactating even though it had not had pups, reports the China Daily.

A Local vet Liu Huan revealed false pregnancies, caused by estrogen secretion disorder, can occur in winter. (ANI)
