Mohsina Kidwai, Congress General Secretary and Union Minister of State for Finance PK Bansal chaired the meeting. All the 42 Congress Members of the Legislative Assembly attended the meeting held at the Delhi office of Congress Pradesh Committee. According to the party insiders the incumbent Chief Minister is expected to have a firm grip over the Cabinet and Dikshit is expected to give ministerial berth to her loyalists.
Congress managed to retain power in Delhi Assembly winning 42 seats while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to bag only 23 of 69 seats at stake. Independents and other parties won four seats. Elections were held for 69 seats out of the 70 as polling in the Rajinder Nagar Assembly constituency in central Delhi was countermanded following the death of sitting BJP MLA and candidate Puran Chand Yogi.
