Cartoon porn kids based on Simpsons are people, rules judge

Melbourne, December 8 (ANI): A judge has ruled against an appeal made by a man charged with showing porn based on children from the animated series 'The Simpsons', saying that cartoon characters are also people.

Alan John McEwan had been convicted in February for child pornography possession as he used his computer to access the explicit content involving children.

McEwan, however, failed to overturn his child pornography conviction after the New South Wales Supreme Court heard that the cartoon showing sexual content involving children was a "person" within the meaning of the relevant state and Commonwealth laws.

Justice Michael Adams said that the characters such as Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson, shown to having sex, were close to depicting reality."The alleged pornography comprised a series of cartoons depicting figures modelled on members of the television animated series The Simpsons," News.Com.Au quoted him as saying.

"The mere fact that the figure depicted departed from a realistic representation in some respects of a human being did not mean that such a figure was not a 'person'," he added.

McEwan was convicted and slapped with a fine of 3000 dollars while being placed on a good behaviour bond. (ANI)
