Mah Gov calls Ashok Chavan to form Govt
Mumbai, Dec 6: Maharashtra Governor SC Jamir on Friday, Dec 5 night invited Chief Minister-designate Ashok Chavan to form government.
The invitation was extended when Chavan of Congress, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister-designate Chhagan Bhujbal of NCP, called on him at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai, Raj Bhavan sources said.
Earlier, they handed over a letter to the Governor informing him about their nomination as leaders of their respective legislature parties and support of 168 MLAs.
They were accompanied by outgoing Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Maharashtra Congress President Manikrao Thakre and senior NCP leaders.
Swearing-in of the two is likely to take place on Sunday, Dec 7 afternoon or Monday, Dec 8 morning, the sources said.
