Melbourne, Dec 5 : Hollywood actress Cate Blanchett has revealed that she had to convince Brad Pitt to star in their upcoming film 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'.
The movie is said to be loosely based on a story by F Scott Fitzgerald, which revolves around a baby called Benjamin who is born as an old man.
While Pitt plays the lead role, Blanchett costars as his ageing girlfriend, Daisy.
In an interview to British Vogue, the Australian actress said that Pitt was initially unsure whether to do the film.
"I don't blame him," The Age quoted her as saying.
"I think he was just thinking, six hours, every day, in make-up.
"It's quite wearisome.
"But we kept saying, 'Do it. It's a really good idea - it's not The Grinch!" she added.
Talking about the film, the Oscar winner said, "Really, it's star-crossed lovers; they can't always be with each other."
"There's so much yearning - and yearning is the life-blood of film," she added.
The film is due to open to release in United States on Christmas Day.
