Polling begins in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Dec 4: Voting for the Rajasthan Assembly election began on Thursday, Dec 4 amid high security. Two crore voters, including 1.72 crore women, are likely to exercise their franchise to elect 200 members to the House from among 2,194 contestants.

The fate of present Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, C P Joshi, the state Congress President, Prahlad Gunjal, the Gujjar community leader and the Meena leader Kirori Lal Meena will be decided by Thursday, Dec 4's elections. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party is also determined to make its presence felt in the state by contesting on as many as 199 seats. The Candidates springled Holy Ganga water on roads to woo voters. Congress Party is contesting in all 200 seats, while BJP in 193 and BSP in 199. In the wake of deadly Mumbai Terror Attacks a multi-layered security cover has been deployed across the state of Rajasthan to ensure free and fare polling.
