Punjabi film actor Shivendar Mahal continues to grow in popularlity
Chandigarh, Dec.1 : Shivendar Mahal of Punjab has today created a distinct place for himself in the Punjabi cinema over the last three decades that he has spent in acting world.
Having started his professional career in 1983, Shivendar has acted in 30 films. His compelling acting performances as a hero and villain won him a huge number of fans.
"I entered Punjabi films as a hero in 1983. Patwari' was the first film in which I played the lead role. Since then, people wanted to see me in different roles. In recent times I have done many serious roles as well. I have essayed both negative as well as positive roles," said Shivendar Mahal, the actor.
The seasoned actor Shivendar has today taken to character roles. The government has also recognized his contribution to the film industry.
"In 1997, I got the National Award for my Punjabi film Baghi Shoormey' by Iqbal Dhillon. I liked that role very much. A year back, in J. S. Cheema's film Rustam-E-Hind I acted as the hero's father. It was a character role. "
Asked how content does he feel today with his accomplishment as an actor, Shivendar Mahal, said: "An actor cannot ever be satisfied. The day he is satisfied he will stop making progress. I want to essay good, sensitive and emotional characters." By Sunil Sharma
