Patna, Nov 30 (UNI) The state government has prepared an ambitious welfare plan for 'ultra poor' to wipe out the 'blot of beggary' on Bihar.
Official sources said here today the government had prepared 'Mukhya Mantri Bhiksha(beggary)Nivaran Yojna'to eradicate beggary in Bihar as it continued to remain a blot on the society.
''In its initial phase, the state government has launched a massive survey under the nomenclature 'Pahchan' to identify the 'ultra poor' who have neither any source of income to meet their both ends, nor are in a position to earn their livelihood,'' the sources said adding 1600 beggars had been identified in Patna district alone.
During the current financial year, the state government had made a budgetary provision of Rs 20 lakh for execution of the schemes and it was expected to be increased in the next financial year, sources said.
An institution-Bihar State Society for Rehabilitation of Ultra Poor, had also been floated for monitoring and execution of welfare scheme for the beggars, sources added.
