Tiruchirapalli, Nov 30 (UNI) The damage caused to the National Highways in Tamil Nadu due to the rain will be repaired immediately, according to Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T R Baalu.
Addressing a press conference here yesterday, Mr Baalu said roads were damaged in the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai National Highway, Tiruchirapalli-Dindigul Highway and Tiruchirapalli-Thanjavur Highway. However, there was no damage to the newly laid four-lane highway corridors, he added.
He said, ''Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi will lay the foundation stone for the proposed Rs 1,500 crore elevated corridor between the War Memorial and Maduravoyal in Chennai, shortly.
He said Mr Karunanidhi would formally inaugurate the Indian Maritime University and Maritime Complex on January 1 next.
