MP repoll peaceful, 63.35 per cent voter turnout recorded
Bhopal, Nov 30 (UNI) Barring the arrest of BSP candidate from Sumavali Assembly seat Ajab Singh Kushwah in Morena, repolling at 31 polling stations spread over 11 districts in Madhya Pradesh ended peacefully today, with 63.35 per cent electorate exercising their franchise.
State Chief Electoral Officer J S Mathur said Mr Kushwah was campaigning along with his supporters in a vehicle, while polling was underway at Khugas polling centre, without seeking permission.
He was arrested for violating the Model Code of Conduct and later released on bail.
Highest polling of 83.76 per cent was registered at Deorikhurd polling centre under the Pohri Assembly segment in Shivpuri district, followed by 82.66 per cent at Nalkheda polling centre under the Biora Assembly segment in Rajgarh district.
The Election Commission ordered the repoll after complaints of electoral irregularities and defects in electronic voting machines (EVM) during polling on Thursday.
Repoll was held in 13 booths in Bhind, six in Morena, three in Tikamgarh, two in Indore and one each in Sagar, Shajapur, Shivpuri, Jabalpur, Rajgarh, Singrauli and Chhatarpur districts.
