Sporting to face JCT in I league tomorrow

Margao, Nov 29 (UNI) After a series of wins on its home ground, Sporting Club de Goa is hoping the same in their next when they take on JCT in the 11th round of the ONGC I League at Nehru stadium, Fatorda, here tomorrow.

Sporting, who started as a hot favorite in the high profile league is leading with 22 points from 10 outings with seven wins, one draw and two defeats.

With a string of victories against the top teams, it would definitely provide them a psychological advantage but cannot afford to be complacement against JCT, which has already earn a high reputation in the football circuit.

JCT at the momement are placed 8th with 12 points from three wins, three draws and four defeats also desperately looks forward to improve their points tally.

Sporting seemed to be high spirits after their beat Air India Mumbai by 2-1 and drew goaless against Mahindra United.

The confident looking Sporting club de Goa coach Vishwas Gaokar said tomorrow's match against JCT is crucial for his team.

''We are confident to win and maintain the top spot with a comfortable points margin,'' Mr Gaokar said adding that he was happy with his team's performance.

''I am sure my boys will emerge winners,'' he reiterated.

A well knit Sporting team has a good attacking line up spearheaded by Nigerian Junior Elejah, who has five goals to his credit. Nigerian soccer player Nathaniol Amos would be a great help. Joseph Pereira, Wilton Gomes and Harmanjot Singh Khabra all are also in the goal scoring list.

Sporting also has a strong defence and forward line.

Meanwhile the JCT coach said, '' Sporting is a good team and presently topping the table. His team will put up a good fight tomorrow.'' Baljeet Sahani and Baldeep Singh( Jr) who are nursing injury will be out tomorrow.

JCT, which has still not lived up to their reputation, would have to tone up their game and bounce back from the defeat they suffered against Mumbai F C (2-3) in the last match.

JCT would rely on their forwards Eduwardo silva Escabor, who scored four goals, Balwant Singh and Amanjeet Singh to deliver the goods and in the defence will be Julius Akpele Anwar and Jaspal Singh.
