Saurashtra notch up 270 for five on day one

Rajkot, Nov 29 (UNI) An unbeaten century by Bhushan Chauhan (111) and a brilliant 88 by Chirag Pathak enabled Saurashtra score 270 for five at the end of the opening day of the four day Ranji Trophy super league match against Rajasthan at the Madhavrao Scindia ground here today.

Saurashtra decided to bat first after winning the toss and openers Pathak and Chauhan laid a solid foundation and put on 154 runs for the opening wicket before the former was out for 88. His innings was studded with nine fours and a six.

Sitanshu Kotak, Cehteshwar Pujara and captain Jaydev Shah were out cheaply after scoring 26, 06 and duck respectively. Ravindra Jadeja also did not last long and was bowled by left-arm spinner Gajendra Singh after scoring six runs.

Chauhan's unbeaten knock of 111, inclusive of 11 fours and a six, came off 132 balls.

Medium-pacer P Singh took three wickets for 38, while left-arm spinner Gajendra Singh scalped two for 104 runs.

At stumps, Chauhan and Sagar Jogiyani were batting on 111 and 20 runs respectively.
