Pappu passes with flying colours; Delhi CEO happy
New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) Pappu has passed with flying colours, leaving Delhi Chief Electoral Officer(CEO) Satbir Silas Bedi smiling from ear to ear! The over 60 per cent voter turnout recorded in the Delhi Assembly polls today is being largely seen as a fallout of the 'Pappu' campaign by the Delhi Electoral office to urge more and more voters to come out and vote in the Assembly polls.
''Launch of the 'Pappu' campaign arose largely out of our concern at the woefully low voter percentage of 43 per cent recorded in the MCD polls last year,''Ms Bedi said at a press conference after the conclusion of polling for the Delhi Legislative Assembly this evening.
Expressing elation at the high polling percentage, the CEO said, ''what is heartening to see is that the increase in voter turnout has been seen not only in the rural but also the urban pockets.'' Asked whether she attributed the high polling percentage to the success of the 'Pappu..' campaign, Ms Bedi said,''I leave it for the media to decide whether or not the campaign was a success. However, for us the 'Pappu..' campaign was one of our important initiatives.'' The 'Pappu' campaign draws its name from the popular song 'Pappu Can't Dance Saala' from the film 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' released earlier this year.
