Srinagar, Nov 29 (UNI) Demanding a white paper on the packages received from the Centre by the Congress-Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) coalition government during their six-year-rule in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference (NC) said they would have to explain as to where Rs 24000-crore package was spent.

Addressing a series of public meetings in north Kashmir yesterday the NC president Omar Abdullah said the coalition government had received Rs 24,000 crore package from the Centre.

But, he alleged that nothing was visible on the ground.

He demanded that a white paper should be issued on the package received and its utilisation.

Mr Abdullah alleged that former rulers filled their own pockets instead of undertaking developmental works and addressing the problems of the common people.

Taking a dig at PDP-Congress coalition regime, Mr Abdullah said the constituencies represented by the members of his party were deliberately ignored in all the sectors.

He said the PDP and Congress would have to explain as to where they spent the Rs 24000-crore package received from the Government of India for reviving the economy and providing basic amenities to the people of the state.

Mr Omar said the coalition government in the name of development has brought unemployment, financial mismanagement, poverty, bad roads, dry taps, poor health care and crippled education system.

He announced that his party will come out with a special package for employment of the youth and will open new avenues for the young unemployed and ensure that in each household of the state there is at least one earning number.

He also promised that the NC government will also provide stipend to the unemployed till they are employed.
