Mumbai, Nov 29 (UNI) The family members of slain Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare has reportedly refused to accept any assistance offered by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi through the Maharashtra Government.
Mr Modi had announced that his government would give Rs one crore to Maharashtra government to distribute the assistance among the kin of the police personnel, who had lost their lives in the attacks.
Sources close to the Karkare family said they had decided not to accept any assistance from Mr Modi, as he had allegedly levelled serious allegations against the police officer while he was heading investigation into the September 29 Malegaon blast case.
Mr Modi had also allegedly demanded a high-level inquiry into the investigation conducted by ATS officials in Malegaon blast.
The Gujarat chief minister had visited the residence of the Karkares and encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar, who were killed while fighting against the terrorists at Cama Hospital on Wednesday night.
Fourteen police personnel including Karkare, Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Kamte and other sacrificed their lives while fighting terrorists.
