New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) Condemning attempts of a section of political parties to politicise the Mumbai terror attacks, former prime minister and Janata Dal (Secular) president H D Deve Gowda today appealed to the political parties to arrive at a consensus on fighting terror.

Stating that politicising terror incident as 'unpatriotic', Mr Gowda in a statement said he was issuing the appeal in his capacity as a former prime minister.

A message of unity and unanimity on the part of political parties would not only boost the morale of a nation, repeatedly shaken by terrorist attacks but also send the enemies and to the world, India's strong resolve and determination to take on the challenge head on, he said.

He also conveyed his deep sense of sorrow about the loss of lives, both of civilians and security personnel in Mumbai.

''I salute the souls of our brave hearts of the Mumbai Police, the National Security Guard and the armed forces, who did not hesitate for a moment to lay down their lives at the altar of Mother India, to save their fellow citizens and our foreign guests from the clutches of the inhuman and barbarian terrorists. India will remain ever indebted to them,'' he said, adding it would be a fitting tribute to honour 'national heroes', who had laid down their lives for the sake of the country.
