Cong more worried about vote bank than security: Gujarat BJP
Ahmedabad, Nov 29 (UNI) The Gujarat BJP today alleged that the UPA government at the Centre was more worried about the vote bank instead of national security.
State BJP spokesperson I K Jadeja has warned the state Congress leaders, including its spokesperson Arjun Modhavadia, against misleading the people and covering up the Centre's failure in tackling terrorism.
Stressing on the fact that coastal security comes under the perview of the Centre, Mr Jadeja said ''It is pitiable, if the state Congress leaders are ignorant about the fact.'' Mr Jadeja further alleged that the Congress has a habit of hiding facts, adding that the entry of the terrorists into Mumbai via coastal route clearly explains the Centre's failure in tackling security of the country.
By putting onus on the government, the state Congress leaders have inadvertantly shown their ignorance.
''The Congress is responsible for the rise of terrorism in the country,'' he reiterated, adding that Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been urging the Prime Minister to beef up coastal security since last four years.
Mr Modi has also emphasised on the need for a joint monitoring of central agencies, the Navy, the Coast Guards and the state police but the Centre has not paid any heed to it, Mr Jadeja stated.
