Ahmedabad, Nov 29 (UNI) The talent hunt for the second batch of much anticipated 'Apollo Tyres Mission-2018 Challenge-2008' received a great response from tennis players of the city.
The Tennis Talent Hunt camp at Ahmedabad Government Employees Tennis Association (AGETA) in posh Memnagar area of the city attracted a number of youngsters.
The city camp was preceded by a similar camp held in Chandigarh last week. The Camp will be held in Chennai and Hyderabad in next few weeks, Tennis Olympian Mahesh Bhupati said today.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Bhupati said ''The primary objective of the Camp is to select promising young Indian tennis talents, aged between 6-14 and impart scientific training to groom them into good tennis players of international standard to reckon India on World's Tennis map.'' He said, ''Ahmedabad saw a tremendous response with record number of children participating in the camp. The children were tested on their athletic ability, mental preparedness and prowess on 'Fighting Spirit', and Tennis skills by the some of the best coaches and trainers, who were camping here, of the country.'' ''It was heartening to see the enthusiasm and involvement of the parents towards their children's game,'' Mahesh, noticing the large attendance of the parents, added.
